How to Calculate How Many Boxes You Need
Calculating how many boxes you need is simple once you know the total area you want to cover and the coverage per box.
Quick Formula
(Total Area ÷ Coverage Per Box) + 10% Extra = Total Boxes Needed
Step By Step Guide:
Step 1: Measure the Area
- Measure the length and width of the space in metres.
- Formula: Length × Width = Area
Example:
A bathroom floor is 3m long and 2m wide.3m × 2m = 6m²
So, the total area is 6 square metres.
Step 2: Check the Box Coverage
- Different tile sizes contain different quantities and coverage per box.
- Always enter the Quantity Per Box.
-
30x60cm = 5 tiles per box (0.9sqm)
-
60x60cm = 4 tiles per box (1.44sqm)
-
60x90cm = 1 tile per box (0.54sqm)
-
60x120cm = 2 tiles per box (1.44sqm)
-
80x80cm = 3 tiles per box (1.92sqm)
-
80x160cm = 2 tiles per box (2.56sqm)
-
120x120cm = 2 tiles per box (2.88sqm)
Step 3: Divide the Total Area by the Box Coverage
- Always round up to the next full box.
Formula: Total Area ÷ Coverage Per Box = Number of Boxes Needed.
Example:
6m² ÷ 1.44m² = 4.16 boxesSo, you would need 5 boxes.
Step 4: Add Extra for Waste
- It is recommended to add 10% extra for cuts, breakages, and mistakes.
Example:
5 boxes + 10% = 5.5 boxesRound up again to the next full box.
Final amount needed: 6 boxes
